| CHAIRLIFT ROPES
|
| The following points are important in the ropes used for chairlifts: |
Resistance to abrasion,
Resistance to fatigue,
Resistance to corrosion and
Technical safety rules.
|
Rope compositions
Compositions of chairlift ropes are 6x7 ve 6x19 Seale type and sisal or polypropylene smooth ropes in which strand directions are same. They are manufactured as fiber core, galvanized or black wire depending on customers’s requests. As they are generally exposed to precipitation in open air, it is suggested that galvanized ropes must be used. If they are not galvanized they must be lubricated.
|
General Characteristics
Apart from general rope maintenance load distribution calculations are also important in the chairlift ropes. Controls must be made in daily basis. Especially after periods in which ropes not operated examinations must be made to find whether there is internal corrosion in the ropes or not. Parts through which ropes pass in chairlifts must be controlled and maintained watchfully before new ropes are used on account of they are easily accessibly.
